Now More Than Ever

He couldn’t breathe. His pleas were ignored. Please let’s not ignore any of our number ever again. Please, … Continue reading Now More Than Ever

I Listened to a Nazi

I have listened to some of those people too. You see, I am a listening advocate. In … Continue reading I Listened to a Nazi

Listening across the political divide! #americans_listen #lovearmy Here's how it works. Meet in person of via video chat with a person who holds opposite political views. Choose who speaks first. Set timer for 5 minutes. The speaker talks about thoughts and feelings since the 2016 eleciton. The listener listens with the intent to understand. After you both speak and listen, answer these questions: 1. one thing you have in common. 2.one thing you agree on politically. 3. one thing you will probably never agree on. Post #americans_listen. This is what happens when a Republican and Democrat meet face to face and listen to one another. Find out how to participate at www.american-listening-project.org #lovearmy #americans_listen
#INDIVISIBLE #lovearmy #americans_listen How does it work? Meet by facetime with somebody who has different political views. Take turns LISTENING and talking for five minutes, responding to the question:"How do you feel about the 2016 election." The listenter does not interrupt or argue, simply stays quiet and listens with the intent to understand. After both people have listened, post a selfie with: A. One thing you have in common. B. One thing you agree on politically C. One thing you do not agree on politically.
#americanslisten #INDIVISIBLE #lovearmy How it works: We didn't agree on the 2016 election. We met in person. We each spoke for 5 minutes, using a timer, answerign the question: what are your thoughts on the election? The listener was quiet and mindful and listened with the intent to understand. After we listened to each other, we answered these three questions: A. One thing we have in common. B. One thing we agree on politically C. One thing we'll probably never agree on politcally. Then we took a selfie and posted it! Anger and partisanship were replaced by euphoria and humanity! Try it!
